NOT SURE WHAT TO SAY WHEN YOU OBJECT ? This is a Grade II Listed Building within the Cotham and Redland Conservation Area and is identified as a Landmark building in the Cotham and Redland Conservation Area Character Appraisal. Any structural alterations (internal or external) would alter the character and appearance of this beautiful building. Cheltenham Rd is extremely busy (although it is well serviced by local bus routes) , any concentrated waves of worshippers would send the local bus routes (and road networks) into meltdown. The applicants currently operate in Horfield over two miles away , so the worshippers are not actually locals….and will be commuting from all over Bristol. There are no listed opening times for the mosque , which could be as early as 2.30am during Ramadan. This will cause considerable disturbance to the local residential amenity. There are already issues with heavily congested residential streets to the rear of the site. The mosque will hold over 300 worshippers , where will they park ? Potentially 60+ cars could arrive en masse. The area around the site needs regeneration , allowing a Change of Use is a terrible loss of Employment Land. A mosque is not an appropriate use for a potentially commercially viable site.
