**NOTE: This is NOT Sweetwater High School! This school was located on 3rd Street on the same general location of Philip Nolan and Sweetwater Intermediate School. The 1887 school building was poorly constructed and fell down within a few years, so this third school building was constructed in 1903 on the same site at the cost of $12,000. In 1903, a state law passed allowing school trustees to issue bonds for school construction, so Sweetwater voted to have this three-story structure erected. In 1912, only the 1st - 6th grades attended here. In the early 1920s, the building caught fire. Again, this school was NOT Sweetwater High School. -Bryan Owens NCHA & NCPM
