NPDC relocation: Benin National Congress back Benin Forum! Of a fact, some tribal elements in Delta Sate particularly have been blowing the drum of violence and nuisance militancy as if they have a monopoly of it; but rather than join the in-famous macabre-dance,we wish to reinstate our commitment to facts and good neigbourliness; despite years of tribulations and hostilities against our communities by some ravaging elements of Itsekiri and Ijaw. Historical and political antecedents abounds as to the indefatigable status of Benin Empire and Edo people in Nigerias scheme of things from time immemorial; we are therefore taking aback that venomous dusts are being raised against a well settled matter. We wish to unequivocally express our unconditional endorsement of the press statement by the Benin Forum and published in Vanguard newspaper of Monday 5th May 2014, because it is a reflection of the collective aspirations of the average Benin man and woman to deploy any realistic approach to resist unprovoked assault on our psyche by a set of desperate tribal hegemonists. We are beginning to suspect that those behind the seeming violent campaign for the relocation of the headquarters of the NPDC may as well be behind some nefarious activities aimed at making our state unsecured as a basis to pursue their mischievous claim plan (chief of which is to see to the ungodly relocation of the headquarters of the Nigeria Petroleum Development Company from Benin City to Warri). To this extent, we respectfully call on the intelligence community to take heed of this latent theory in a broad effort to hunt those behind the serial kidnaping of our self- established sons and daughters; else we may be compared to float a militant front to advance our people and territorys protection. We wish to reassure the NPDC and its auxiliary agencies; as well as oil and gas multinational companies operating in Edo state of our peoples continuous hospitality and cooperation. Dr. David Ekomwenrenren -Director of Publicty and Intelligence.
