#NUTSHELL – DECEMBER 21st — LET IT GO…AND GO – Matthew 18:21-35: Living transparently does not mean that you live a perfect life; it means you live an honest life. If you are the one who has committed the offense, you have a responsibility to ask for forgiveness. If you are the one who has been hurt, you have the responsibility to forgive and forget. Christ does not keep track of our wrongs. He forgives them over and over and does not keep record of them. How then as Christians can we justify keeping track of those who have wronged us? Christ has forgiven us completely and totally, so we then in turn should forgive those who hurt us. Amy Carmichael writes: “if I say, Yes I forgive, but I cannot forget, as though the God, who twice a day washes all the sands on all the shores of all the world, could not wash such memories from my mind, then I know nothing of Calvary love.” In 1917, Russian Orthodox Church bishops were having convocation. It came to a heated debate with fussing and feuding. A few doors down the street, another meeting was going on. The Bolshevics were together plotting the overthrow of the Czar. This was the start of the Russian Revolution—the beginning of what we now know as Communism. What was the church arguing about while the Empire was crumbling around them? Candles; were they to be 18” or 22” long. God calls us to be something greater than ourselves. It is through His power that we can be part of a spiritual revolution. The revolution must first begin within us. It must be a total transformation of our thoughts, actions, words and priorities. It is when others see an authentic revolution happening in our own lives that they begin to see something they want to know more about and be a part of. A real, authentic relationship with Jesus Christ is what you need. It is the catalyst for bringing about a complete change in your life and the lives of your family. When we begin to see personal change we will then begin to see it in our church.
