Nader Gohar : Press Release CNC Cairo News Company, the provider of transmission and broadcasting services to several TV channels in Cairo Egypt was covering the event of Egyptian manifestation in Cairo streets today June 30/2013 at Nasr City (Rabaa Aladaweya Square), where supporters of president Morsy were gathering. CNC was transmitting live from the top of a building, the supporters of president Morsy and the Moslem Brothers climbed the building where our crew is operating and giving services for Alarabeya TV channel. They attacked the crew using sticks and iron bars, the satellite engineer Mohamed Zidan has a broken leg, the cameraman Gad Alhak received several punches and hits, and needs hospital treatment. Kareem Hanafy the sound technician has rips and hand injuries. The camera, lighting and transmission equipment were destroyed. There has been a loss of more than $140,000 of equipment, with more than 80 percent of damage. CNC would like to declare that its crews are technicians and journalists working for the covering of the events in a professional way and without any political reference or background. CNC considers the attack on its crew is against all the rights of a free coverage and a way to threaten and force the media in Egypt. We also clearly accuse the supporters of the President and the Moslem Brothers whom are controlling the area of the attack.
