Namibia, DRC agree on dry port facility at Walvis Bay Namibia has agreed to look into the request by the Democratic Republic of Congo for a dry port facility at Walvis Bay, Foreign Affairs Minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah revealed on Monday.Nandi-Ndaitwah said in a statement that she had told her DRC counterpart Raymond Tshibanda N’tungamulongo during official talks last week that Namibia was committed to assisting landlocked Southern African Development Community member states with space to import and export goods. N’tungamulongo was in Namibia for a working visit to Namibia from April 23-25 at the invitation of Nandi-Ndaitwah and was accompanied by high ranking officials and business people from the DRC. The two ministers noted with satisfaction the excellent fraternal and friendly relations existing between the two countries developed over many years. They also identified the need for closer cooperation in trade and investment, mining, fishing, military cooperation, agriculture and energy sectors for the mutual benefit of the two peoples. The meetings formed part of the Joint Permanent Commission between the two SADC member states. The next session of the joint commission is scheduled for the DRC in 2015. (APA)
