National Gymnastics Arena officially opened by President and First Lady The rapid progress which is taking place to prepare for the Baku 2015 European Games was evident this week when the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev joined the First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva to perform the official opening of the new National Gymnastics Arena. The historic European Games are proving to be a catalyst for change in Azerbaijan and the new state of the art arena, which is the first new venue to be constructed for the Games, is set to provide a lasting legacy for the people of Baku and Azerbaijan. The venue has been constructed to the highest international standards and is set to establish itself as one the best gymnastic centres in Europe. It has already been chosen to host the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships from June 13 – 15 this year.
