Need help , please, My great grandfather, John Hart, immigrated to America and was found on the NY passenger list 2 Jun 1848. Since 1979 I have thoroughly researched him, his life, his family, his death and burial (as well as making several on site visits) in Wilkes Barre, Luzerne, PA. USA. Mary Gilligan Hart. Johns mother, who was widowed early (Patrick Hart died 1825 in County Sligo, Ireland) was born 23 Jan 1800, Ireland, and is reported to have died in Wilkes Barre, 7 Jan 1893, She was supposedly buried there, I visited both their old and the modern Catholic Churches as well as the cemetery, in Wilkes Barre, but I have found no evidence as to her ever being there. i do not know if she really immigrated, maybe remarried, or etc. John Harts son, my unmarried grandfather, was a playwright, producer, writer of many articles about the family, and a colorful Mayor Dan Hart. of the town, dying 2 Feb 1933, during his 4th term in office. He wrote to please the public and make the family look good. I am not sure of the spellings, but Marys parents were Caroline and John Gilligan of County Sligo, Ireland. Any suggestions about finding grandma or any other hints would be so much appreciated.
