New graduates from across UCA have won a raft of awards at this years New Designers exhibition. Emma Webb, graduate of BA (Hons) Silversmithing, Goldsmithing & Jewellery at UCA Rochester was awarded the One to Watch prize for her final collection, Touched by the Elements. BA (Hons) Computer Animation Arts gradate Nat Urwin, 24, collected the Screening Prize Peoples Choice Award for her short stop-motion animation Mothers Day, a bittersweet tale of an elderly woman and her son. Nats fellow Computer Animation Arts graduate Urvashi Lele took home the Screening Prize for her short stylized animation An Interview with The Owl and The Pussy Cat, a comedic retelling of the classic childrens poem. BA (Hons) Illustration graduate Matthew Alker meanwhile claimed the AbsolutatND award for his redesign of the iconic Absolut Vodka bottle. Away from the awards, UCA was well represented across New Designers, with graduates exhibiting a range of unique, head-turning pieces. Rosie Andrzejak, graduate of BA (Hons) Fashion Textiles: Print at UCA Rochester exhibited her final piece, a printed and hand constructed caravan, in the foyer of the Business Design Centre.
