New sounds abound Posted by Paul Salyers on 10th Dec 2014 I am a guitar player turned mandolin player (mostly just acoustic) and wanted electric sounds for recording. I changed the strings and tuned it GDAE (like a mando) so I would not have to transpose all of my chords and notes. This thing simply rocks with a hot blade PU, HB and the ease of 4 strings tuned in 5ths (or 4ths if you prefer). Since I see the fretboard differently than a 6-string I have been really exploring and finding great new sounds.
