News: An estimated 75,172 people in Moray have registered to vote in next week’s Scottish independence referendum. That is an increase of 4257 on the number of eligible voters for the European Parliament elections in May. Of those, 2308 are 16 and 17-year-olds. The figures are provisional and definitive figures will be available later this week. More than one in five electors in Moray have opted for a postal vote, with the first issue having been sent out to nearly 16,000 postal voters on August 27. A further 2421 ballot papers will be sent out to postal voters today (Monday) and should arrive within the next couple of days. On polling day, September 18, a total of 98 polling stations will be in use at 58 different polling places across Moray and staffed by more than 200 people.
