Nigeria is a promised land, Africa, a great continent. Theres a question that plagues my heart day in day out in this part of my father land am serving. For what essence on earth is the millitary drilling we subjected to every now and then. This close to 9:30 pm, we summoned out for drama night which till now hasnt even kicked off. Here i am with a chest pain, goose pimples caused by cold from the heavy downpour, cough with no drug at the clinic for treatment. As much as most love the integration of different tribe for unity which is the sole purpose of the NYSC scheme propounded by Gowon a little while after the civil war, i ask, what purpose does all this millitary drilling jargon serve. We preparing for a revolution or why on earth would corp members be subjected to rigorous exercising? Is it a practical of punishment we give our pupils in classroom where majority of us will be posted to? I stand to be corrected, permit me to say, inspite of NYSC effort to instill discipline in the corp members who will at a later age lead the country, some of the activities of the camping needs being rechecked. In reality, the leaders of our country who at one point or the other went through this same service and humility , with dedication and selflessness scheme, what level of discipline do they manifest for the larger society.
