No I am not going to be watching the Presidents speech or the inane answer by who ever the republican is. Instead I am watching documentaries on Netflix about how the oil and gas companies are getting away with murder, as they they lobbied congress to cut back on the clean water act, and how aggressively they are fighting against any climate change bills while moving full seed ahead to rape the environment like never before. the oil industry is making major investments in extreme energy extraction that will undermine the ecology of the planet. The industry is targeting the oceans and the lands with new technology that will produce a lot of oil and lots of money for investors. They seem to be deaf to the environmental discussion, or perhaps more accurately blinded by the massive profits they see from oil and gas Some movies about this are: splitestate “’Split Estate’ is an eye-opening examination of the consequences and conflicts that can arise between surface land owners in the western United States, and those who own and extract the energy and mineral rights below. This film is of value to anyone wrestling with rational, sustainable energy policy while preserving the priceless elements of cultural heritage, private enterprise above-ground, and the precious health not only of people but the land itself.” And: topdocumentaryfilms/a-crude-awakening-the-oil-crash/ Basil Gelpke and Ray McCormacks nonfiction treatise Crude Awakening joins Maxed Out, An Inconvenient Truth, and other recent documentaries devoted to unearthing and exploring forces that are untying the connective threads of contemporary society. The subject at hand is crude oil - specifically, the depletion of petroleum from the Earth, in an era when consumption threatens to exceed supply.
