No matter what side of the political arena you stand on, I am saddened to discover we have a leader that is willing to put American’s lives at such risk and that our country support his actions. In a press conference, Obama stated he is waiting for “proof of ISIS’ threat to America and the West,” as opposed to “the kind of intelligence that gave us the Iraq War.” Fact: 9/11 actually happened. The terror wasn’t a threat, it is a fact. Thousands died. That isn’t made up. Whether we knew about it or not prior to the event, will honestly never be truly discovered. Fact: We went to war afterwards. That isn’t fake either. WHY we went to war, again, will never be agreed upon. But the why doesn’t matter. To state that we are waiting on proof BEFORE the attack, before we protect ourselves, is absurd. Last I checked, the rules of battle do not require the attacker to call up your secret service and give them the game plan. Are we as Americans seriously confused or brainwashed so much that we think this is something we should actually wait for? Isn’t it better to look a little foolish but completely protected rather than play this game with someone’s life? I am honestly confused, on this eve of the anniversary of greatest destruction our country has ever seen, that we as a country are sitting quietly while our lives are being dangled in front of our opponents. The fears formed in some and the complete opposite lack of fear of others, all play into the game. Are you an idiot for not being prepared or are you a freak for worrying? Are you too selfishly caught up in your own life to have not even noticed the threat is happening? Are you trying to support our leader and hoping he doesn’t let the whole country down or are you forming your own army to protect you instead? All of these actions are exactly what they want. Until we stand UNITED, whether our leader is for or against us, we will never stand AGAINST this threat. How on Earth is a country that screams in outrage over a celebrity and their personal choices, all of a sudden silent over what actually is happening in the real world? How do we protest by eating or not eating at a fast food restaurant, but not cause an uproar over something that has such merit, it effects every single member of this world? I’m confused. I’m hurt. I don’t understand how we let ourselves fall so hard. How did we become this? We are on the path of becoming something I am no longer proud of and THAT speaks greater volume than any other words I could ever say, because I bleed red, white and blue. God bless us all. I am in constant prayer for everyone and hope we pull our heads out soon enough to fix this mess.
