Noble hearts. Not very tall, For a Knight, Even quite slender. Garbed in beautiful Silver armor. A shield on your left arm With a emblem Of a White Unicorn. A slender rapier, In your right hand, Not a sword For the inept. The pommel Garnished in gold Beautiful to behold. Upon the length Of the blade Ancient ruins In the old eleven tongue. Thus making it Almost as light as air, But able to cut through Hardened battle armor, And forever as sharp As the keenest razor blade. Been in the family For generations, Your family, A family Of the greatest warriors And most noble hearts. Staring into the cave, You breath deeply, For you know Your love is in there. Stolen away by magical means, The court mage told you, Even showed you With his own powers, Also he told Of the great dangers And grave risks That waited in there. But, Quite simply The very gates Of hell, Would not stop you, For your love is true And your heart pure. You listen Intently To the mage And prepare for the journey. Your father has found out, The greatest battle king In ten generations, He forbade you to leave Till he could Call back his armies, To argue Would be futile, For his will is iron, Much like Your own. Sneaking out In the dead of night, Taking the family sword, Your armor And favorite horse. Your raced through the night To save your love, For as the mage told you Your love Is the last Of a great blood line, To be Sacrificed In the old evil ways, With such a evil deed, Will bring about A plague Of darkness to the land. This will not be, Cannot be, You will save your love, And the land. You can see your love In your minds eye, You remember Such haunting eyes, A saga poet Of amazing talent, Renown across the land, Even a budding Magician. So tender, So pure of heart, And best of all Loves you also. Your heart beat faster As you remember Holding hands Under the moonlight Looking into each others eyes, Swearing Your love Unending Forever. You will not cry, Your love Professed how much You are needed How much You mean to them. Then A kiss. You will not cry. Your linage is true For you have Studied in the ways of war Since Even before u could walk. Around the Greatest warrior Of the age, Your father. He loves you so Very much, For your mother Died when you were young, He always speaks of her With such great love, You feel warm And loved by her Even though You struggle to remember her, But to hear Your father talk Is to almost believe That she is still here And will always Be watching over you. You breathe. Letting these memories Wash over you, Strengthens your resolve, Your love, And skills Will see you though. This is but a test To show Your love Is pure and true. Stepping down From the horse, Your look up at the sun Feeling its warmth Through your visor, Breathe deeply Exhale, Swishing the sword From left to right, Lessening your wrist. Your armor, Creaks And groans As you walk forward Into the awaiting Abyss. Just a few Mere steps, You can feel the change, The air Is so much colder, Thicker, Charged with energy. Not as dark as it seemed, But filled With a eerie Magical glow. Not even the mage Was sure what really Lays in wait For you, What demons maybe, Or even goblins, Vile creatures. Ogres? It is not known For such a powerful mage Could easily control Such creatures of the darkness. Steadying yourself Your proceed To enter Into the warriors trance. A powerful technique O make ones my Razor sharp And reflexes keen Mind and body as one, To react Without thought, As if Even before the blow comes You will react. Breathe, Controlling your nerves, Burying them deeply. Only a fool Is not afraid, As your father used to say, But the warrior Uses this fear, For fear will keep You alive, And your senses sharp As long as You Control it. So you control it Using it Feeding you senses, For any possible Danger ahead. But You feel your nerves Stretching Them to breaking point. This will not happen YOU Will not let it. This passage seems endless Hours have pasted, Still nothing But this glow To light your way. Despair Starts to creep Into your soul Threatening to Fill your heart. Using your Iron will You stamp it down, Retaining control. Resolve Firmly in place, Time to move on. Then You are there, A large cavern With an altar at the far end. There stands a figure With it’s back to you, Garbed in a red Hooded robe. You stride forward To confront him. Laughter greets you, Without turning around, A deep voice “I knew You would come” A tingle Goes down your spine. Something Is very wrong here. “Welcome my dear” Such a warm voice. “Release the one!!!” You shout in a firm voice. Laughter fills the air, “My pets bring This insolent one to me”. From left and right Figures Emerge from the shadows Three on each side. Goblins! Lightly armored But quick and fierce, Not to be underestimated. Your choice is made, Without even thinking, You spin to your left and charge. Like a dancer You are among them. One slash, A splash of green blood And gurgled breath. Stab A squeal of pain And amour crashing To the floor. Block overhead slash And Stab To the groin Severed artery Assured death. Three goblins Dead In a matter Of heartbeats. The other three Freeze Now very unsure. But you are not, You attack Lighting quick You are amongst The distressed Goblins. In as many heartbeats Three more Vile beasts are dead. Staring At the bodies And green blood Splashed over the floor, You have never Killed before. There is no remorse For your love Is awaiting you. Laughter fills the air Once again A feeling of Something very wrong Fills you, The sweet voice Fills the cavern, “Well done My beautiful Lady”. Your heart stops. No. “Your blood Is truly pure” You raise your visor, Shield almost slipping From your grasp, Sword tip Clanging to the ground Loosely held In unbelieving hands. Laughter Fills the air As the mage turns around And pulls back his hood. “Yes my sweet Princess, It is I” No You mumble How can this be? “A most capable Warrior you are, Truly Your fathers spawn”. Such a handsome face So caring, So warm, How? “I can see You still do not believe” Such a smile. Tears roll down your face. Your heart breaks. “Come my love, I told you I needed you, More than you knew, For with your blood, And a simple Spell, I will become The most powerful mage In hundreds of years!” Your head slumps. Sobbing. “Come my love, Lay upon this altar And you Shall be apart of me Forever!” Sweeping his arm wide Inviting you to step up, He smiles That smile, That so many times Filled your heart with joy. You look up Rage filling you, Coursing though you, Taking the fear away, Filling you with Complete desire To take your revenge Against this Vile man. Still smiling, “No” You say, “NO!” “I shall see you Dead at my feet!” You shout. Lifting Shield and sword, Ready to advance. “Oh my dear, How Inspiring”. A click of his fingers, Suddenly Spinning You face a fearsome Monster, A massive ogre. Fear surges though you So big, Their skin Is thinker than Knights armor Their strength As large as their size, Carrying A wooden club Almost As large as a man It charges So very quick for its size It is upon you. You barely dodge out of the way. Rolling to your left As it’s huge Club swishes though the air Where u had once been. You won’t Be able to dodge forever. Again Impossibly fast The huge creature Swings at you, To late! You raise your shield Just in time, To feel the crushing blow Crash against you Shattering the shield And sending the remains Into the darkness Beyond. You stagger, Trying to recover, Again u fell it coming, You try to duck, A blinding pain sears Though you As the club Smashes Into your helm Ripping it From your head. You spin Stars cloud your vision, You drop your sword, Darkness Threatens To envelope you. “STOP! YOU FOOL! Do not kill her! I need her alive!” You hear a grunt, And a footstep As the ogre Reaches for you, Now Or never. Graphing Your dagger, You roll backwards, Between its legs Slashing left and right You are rewarded With a shout of pain. Grey blood Sprays the ground As the creature Turns around, Shakily you stand Staring It still stands Eyes fix upon you. Then Unable to dodge It grabs you With both hands. You grunt As the beast quizzes. Armour buckles, Ribs groan And start to crack, You vaguely hear Your once love Shouting. Darkness starts to take you, Then, Nothing. Pain. Such pain. Firstly physical Then as you regain coconscious, Your heart Fills with sorrow As you relies You are on the altar Unable to move But to move your head. Cold now, Your quickly relies why. “Ah Awake, Good. Sorry for taking your armor And clothes But it Will be much easier To cut Your heart out without Such hindrance” Your try to speak But unable To take a deep enough breathe. “Do not worry my dear It will be Almost painless” He smiles And produces A wickedly curved dagger. “Close your eyes My lady This won’t Take but a minute”. So tired Your heart filled with Despair Sorrow And sadness For you will not see Your father again. You feel the power As the mage Starts his spell. A tear Flows down your cheek, You choke Back a sob. Something is wrong, The air Is still again. You become aware Of the mage screaming In anger “YOU WILL NOT TAKE HER!” A strange tongue Fills the air, You open your eyes And turn your head. A tall knight Is striding to the altar Garbed in brilliant Silver armor And carrying a Massive fearsome Battle-axe. Standing some 6foot 8, Your father Has come for you. You smile Tears of joy Stream down your face. Suddenly At least a dozen Screaming goblins Rush your brave father. The battleaxe Is not a weapon of finesse, But a weapon Of iron will Supreme strength And courage. In moments The goblins are slain, Never have You seen such Ferocity, Such an assume sight To behold. He moved with such Terrifying speed, What goblins That were not slain Quickly, Tried to flee, Only To be slaughtered From behind. Only green corpses Lay strewn about Along with So much green blood And hacked off body limbs. Hardly even Breathing hard He strides forward once more. Seemly unstoppable You feel the Dark mages panic As he quickly Summons More allies to his cause. Not one, But two ogres Appear from the shadows. Yell terrible War cries And charge. Your father, Calmly turns around And then Does the only thing He knows how. He attacks. You notice You are not tied down But held by some Magical force, You start to struggle. Dodging to his right He slashes low, A powerful blow That catches The ogre’s knee Severing its leg, It crashes to the ground In a scream of agony. You see the mage Muttering once again Summoning Something Far more powerful For you can see the effort As sweat Streams down his face, You start To struggle more Finding that you can move Just a little more. The other beast Raises its club high, About To crush your father From behind, But he drops to his knee Spinning quickly, Holding the axe In one hand. The beast staggers, Drops its club Looking down At its stomach Franticly Trying To put its insides back in. “Now, You will die! BEHOLD MY POWER!” The air crackles Heat shimmers the air As the mage Shouts the last Words of power. Oh my god You mutter He would not dare! But he has For the Mage Has summoned a demon A great red creature Of pure evil, Magical strength And inhuman speed. Huge even taller Than the ogres, It roars Shacking the very ground Vibrating through the air. If your father Was afraid He did not show it, For he stood his ground, Keeping his balance As this terrible Demon Stalks His puny human prey. It moved so quickly, Your father Just managed To get out of the way. You can see it. No way Can he win. You cry out Yelling with all your might, Struggling, Against the ever Weakening bonds, You see the Massive strain Upon the mages face As he does not even notice, You are almost sitting up. A blow sends your father Crashing Across the floor, His left arm Hanging uselessly By his side. Another blow As he hammers The mighty axe Into the demons chest. It cries out Sweeping at him Once again sending Him across the floor Ripping away His helm And most of his Shoulder guards. The demon Stands over your father Graphing him In both hands, Opening its massive jaws About To enjoy Its human feast. FREE! You scramble upwards. Grabbing The sacrifice knife From the mages belt, Reaching up Wrenching back his head, Feeling him stiffen, Trying to struggle And the spell broken, You wisp her “I said I would see you dead At my feet!” Quickly Expertly You slash the knife Across His exposed neck Dropping The gurgling mage A pool Of blood at your feet. With the mage dead The demon Disappears As if it never was. You stumble To your fathers Prone body Hope And fear Surging through you. Holding his head In your lap You gently Wipe the blood away. Still breathing, Thank the gods, What a mighty man. You cry softly. “I take it That other ogre Was yours?” You sniff And hug him so tight, “Well done My daughter For you are a warrior true, I am so proud of you!” You can’t answer, You just keep Holding him so close. “I love you so” He wisp hers “I love you to” Father and daughter, Two Great warriors, And such Noble hearts.
