Nobody tells you how many times you are gonna get hit up in the veins with radio isotopes when you are dealing with scans, post surgery. I had two and for the second, the nurse explained to me that the metal covering on the syringe was really more for her protection than mine in that she was exposed everyday. YIKES!!!! It made me particularly nervous for the poor orchid in the room, especially because it was already in an open protest to ask us to stop watering it! She then informed me that since the tongue is a muscle and this particular isotope was targeting muscles, that I had to remain silent for 30 minutes. Jeff leapt with joy, I had to hold my lips together more than once to stop from speaking. AND, when they finally put me into that big ole machine for the PET scans, they told me that I could not only not talk but couldnt even breathe deeply for 35 minutes more. They couldnt get Jeff out of the room because he was so excited to observe my silence for 35 minutes. He quickly pulled up a chair and proceeded to read stories the whole time. They should have a reader for everyone when they are strapped down in that big machine..its scary. I guess we are just getting started with scans and toxic injections, but at least we keep finding ways to laugh our way through it all. Thanks for keeping the light on Yall. https://giveforward/fundraiser/5345/jane-george-s-breast-cancer-fund.
