Noncommissioned officers of the 1st Infantry Division are eligible for the 2014 Black Engineer of the Year STEM Conference – Ninth Annual Stars and Stripes Dinner Noncommissioned Officer Award. Units wishing to submit a nomination to 1st Inf. Div. Engineering must do so no later than Jan. 17. The award is presented every five years in conjunction with the U.S. Army being the featured service during the Stars and Stripes Dinner. It recognizes the noncommissioned officer who served with distinction supporting the Army’s efforts in mentorship, promoting diversity and inclusion, science, technologies, engineering and math outreach and education and promoting value-based service to the nation. Eligible Soldiers must be a noncommissioned officer in grades E-6 through E-9 on active duty. All nominations must be endorsed using a memorandum format by the Soldier’s command sergeant major. One nomination per command will be accepted unless otherwise noted. Nominations must be in narrative format and include specific examples of excellence in mentorship, diversity and inclusion, living the Army values and STEM-related outreach or education.
