None of us have the power to control where we were born; we can’t decide who are parents are. But everyone is entitled to a fair go and decent treatment. Sometimes, the challenge to decency comes in more explicit form. I don’t need to tell you about the debates we’ve had over the last decade about asylum seekers and refugees. We can’t forget that those who seek asylum here, who are fleeing from persecution, are committing no crime and are breaking no law.
