Norman Traverse Sr. 3 minutes ago · Good Morning...respective first nations peoples. So this evening is an informational mtg regarding the Class action lawsuit against the Province and federal governments. From a perspective, I understand this lawsuit needs Certification from the court to proceed to trial. And after that it is either of two things for the dependants to act: come to the negotiate table and sort out what to be compensated? or proceed to trial, right? Our legal Counsel or Lawyers got it all prophiled (prepared). * I like to express my point of view, or my perspective. Its a little bit of history and our treaties that were signed back then: We need to assert our inherent jurisdiction, our inherent rights as treaty people, which means exercising and practicing what our treaties are, in other words putting our treaties to effect (force). And that is, of course, telling our fiduciary trustee, the federal government to honour our treaties our fathers signed back then, (1867). Our treaties are important to first nations people. They were signed in good faith by our fathers with high expectations, not just merely a payment of $3.00 or $5.00 in exchange for land. This treaty was a covenant between Indian People and the Federal government that day. For your information First Nations people occupied all the land (Canada). The treaty signed was like this:As long as the sun shines, and as long as the green grass grows, and as long as the rivers flow quite a contrast, from what we see and experience today. Along with the signing came the Articles of the numbered treaty for each band or reserve. The treaties spelled out the articles for each numbered treaty. Thats the History. * Now no sooner after treatys were signed, the government imposed to first nations peoples, an act of parliment, a most horrofying colonial piece of legislation, called the Indian ACT. Most absurd totaliterian and colonialistic act of conspiracy from the federal government, our fiduciary trustee, done to us first nations peoples. Hard to comprehend, shocking, Eh? Parliment instituted an act which took away or killed our inherent treaty process, in other words the Federal Government breached our treaty agreement or covenant. As a result of this outright breach or inaction from the government against our treaties. First Nations began to suffer greatly, the treaty process now having no effect. First Nations people began to lose vast majority of land or territory. Land that was inherently ours, before the Europeans came or arrived. Thats the History! *Now over a century and a half (147) years later or ago our first nations people are still suffering: racism is rampant, stero-typed, marginalized as third class citizens, economically mraginalized, from this great land that was literally ours or we owned this land outright. Our friends the European Immigrants that arrived, benefitted more from our treaty,s than to its own people meant for. Today it is continuing, this suffering, the breach of treaties continues. It is common practice and experience for the federal government, to impose, unilateral decisions with great consequence to first nations people. And thats the literal truth. The most common consequence first nations people suffer today is being flooded off their reserve land. And that without consent or easement or compensation. I could go on and on to express and elaborate what we as people suffered over a perod of decades of totaliterian and colonialism imposed on us peoples by our Government. Is their a Solution? Is their an alternative? Im afraid not, first nations people have to rise up now and wake-up (understand). First Nations people need to unite now collectively stand for each other, and assert what is ours, after our treaties were breached. For example of, us, First Nations people suffered, lived in poverty, economically marginalized, because of precedent setting flooding by our governments. By way of tampering of water levels, setting up water control structures, digging up causeways, has been common practice by our governments both provicially and federally. And that without consultation or inviting first nations chiefs and councillors to the negotiating, decision making table. * As I was saying, is their a recourse for us people? I have a suggestion, first nations people need to REVOLT, not just a tactic, first nations people to show both governments, enough is enough of this suffering, our elders many of them are passed on, our younger generation has no future, unless we act collectively and unite, based on our inherent treaty perspective. A rebellious action is needed to a degree, and show government we as people dont need this rhetoric anymore being flooded off our lands, such a revolt by people is needed. WE NEED TO EXPRESS OUR INHERENT Right AND ASSERT to governments we have a say to our lands, traditionally and culturally, socially and economically. A revolution in property ownership, needs to be asserted. We dont need easement to crown lands anymore, we want full title, ownership and control of ownership to what is legally and rightfully ours as first nations peoples. Reserve land to cease, after all it is our land and become legal property by such membership as deemed. We need full title to our lands, in other words soveriegnty and jurisdiction to our lands, the literal right to self-government, self independance. Soveriegnty and Jurisdiction are strong words the federal government dont want to hear from us peoples. But that is the direction we have to follow, a proper perspective for us people. We need to tell our governments, starting, today, we need our Freedomback, and equality, Democracy, and Justice. Thank-you God Bless!!!
