Northern Illinois Youth Soccer (NIYS) is a non-profit community based volunteer program that focuses on the fundamentals of soccer while instilling the virtues of sportsmanship and team play. These are critical life lessons that will serve our players well as they mature and become future role models. NIYS is having its annual sign up for the 2014 soccer season for boys and girls GOING INTO Kindergarten through 5th grade for the 2014 school year. Players are divided into two levels, Peewees K-2nd & Juniors 3rd – 5th. In past, games have been held in Earlville. This year we are having 2 games per team on Saturdays (times may vary, subject to change depending on sign-ups). We would not start games Saturday until 9:00am. This year we are actively attracting players from Earlville, Paw Paw, Leland, Harding, Sheridan, Serena, Wallace and Mendota. We welcome any and all children meeting age requirements. No player will be turned away. Tentatively we are looking at 12 players per team and 10 players on the field for both Peewees and Juniors. Peewees play four 8 minute quarters and Juniors play two 30 minute halves. Peewees will play no less than 2 quarters and Juniors will play no less than 1 half. We will play around 10 games for Juniors and 10 for Peewees, this is subject to change depending on number of teams and players. Both divisions will play with size 4 ball. This year’s registration fees will be $45.00 per child. All Sign-ups must be in by June 11th, 2014. If you have any questions please contact the NIYS Coordinators. We will have a registration date August 4, 2014 during Earlville School sign-ups. Please take the necessary forms, completely fill out and return to the school, Mrs. Jill Harp or Sarah Cook with payment. Your registration will include a t-shirt & socks. Players are to wear black shorts. Shin guards are required at all practices and games, not included in uniform. NO FOOTBALL OR BASEBALL SHOES ARE ALLOWED. This is the shoe with the toe cleat. NIYS is an instructional league and competitive in our Junior division. We will be holding at least 1 tournament at the end of our season. Every game ends with a win or loss. Ties end up in a 5 on 5 shoot-outs, (very exciting)! As always NIYS welcomes new volunteers to coach and assist coach our teams. Please see a board member for details if interested or ask at registration. All parents are asked to line judge at least one of their child’s games. We are looking forward to another wonderful, fun filled season! Thank you for your dedication to our youth. Please feel free to contact us for any questions or comments you may have.
