Not exactly ham BUT I will use it on my next foray into the world - TopicsExpress

Not exactly ham BUT I will use it on my next foray into the world of portable operation... A local lady had 3 generators to give away. She was VERY clear that they dont run. I thought what the heck so I made arrangements to go pick them up. When I go there we were down to 2 as someone had already said they would get the Yamaha this weekend. Its mine if they blow her off. So loaded up with a King 1500W and a Coleman 1500W and a lawnmower that runs but she wanted gone, I head back home. I went to pull the Coleman over and she was siezed :(( Oh well, pull the spark plug and a few drops of 2 cycle oil into the cylinder and wait. On to the King. 2nd pull, flashed right up-runs like a dream but no power. Hmmmmm. A few minutes later, after removing the front panel it was painfully obvious what the problem is. Not a good thing when the capacitor is melted and deformed! A trip to the parts store will fix that for at most 25$ Back to the Coleman. I pulled the recoil off thinking(hoping) that might be what is seized, nope. Get out my trusty 1/2 drive ratchet and gingerly break it lose. WooHoo! A little more oil down the cylinder and turn the poor little thing over several times. Ok, the moment of truth, on with the recoil and a squirt of ether and BOOM, flashed right up and putting out full power! It smoking pretty good but that, I believe, is mostly because of the oil I had to put in the cylinder. The little green wonder is gpnna get a complete oil change using some decent hi mileage oil. Gotta Love Freebies!
