Not more than 2500 people attended Modis rally: Soz SRINAGAR, December 08: Terming Srinagar rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a ‘total failure’, State Congress chief Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz Monday said that not more than 2500 people attended the rally. Soz said, “He (Modi) wanted to show his presence here but the reality is he doesn’t have any presence here. He got two thousand five hundred people for his rally from different parts of the state and that too after spending crores of rupees.” Lashing out at the Prime Minister for his claims that it was only during his tenure that Army punished the soldiers involved in Chattergam killings, Soz said, “Whatever Modiji said in Srinagar smacks of his culture for propaganda. He wants to take credit for everything. It isn’t for the first time that Army apologized in case of Chattergam killings. Army did it on its own basis, because they found they were wrong.” “Earlier also in Maachil encounter it was CBI which came to conclusion that Army was wrong. Army took a position and said they will do the court martial and found some officers guilty and punished them. But it was on its own. It was before Modi government. But he (Modi) wants to take credit for everything for his self which is totally wrong,” the state Congress chief added. Over Modi’s assertions that he represents 1.25 billion, Soz said, “His claims that he represents 1.25 core is a propaganda. He forgets that despite the majority in Lok Sabha elections, he got only 31 percent votes and 69 percent people voted against Modi and BJP.” Asked to comment on Modi’s allegations of state government being corrupt, he said, “Everybody is against corruption and if he is against corruption that isn’t a bad idea. We are also against corruption. But courts want proof to punish somebody if he is corrupt.” On Modi’s assertions that people don’t trust state government on flood relief distribution Soz said, “He is a propagandist. If somebody asked him to directly transfer the relief money to their accounts that is UPA-II initiative that cash transfers should be made directly to the account of the beneficiary.” On Modi promise to carry forward and fulfill the dream of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the state Congress chief said, “Vajpayee’s mission wasn’t propaganda. What Vajpayee wanted to do, Modi doesn’t have that talent. He called off talks with Pakistan over separatists having a cup of tea with Pakistan High Commission officials.” Questioning Modi that what he wants to do under insanyat ke dharee mein (ambit of humanity), Soz said, “He (Modi) isn’t even clear on Article 370. Let him say it openly that Article 370 will remain a permanent feature of constitution of India.”
