(Not pun) Evidently there is a case nearing or at the Supreme Court now that will decide whether or not corporations can object to covering birth control as part of their medical insurance. And what the whole thing boils down to us a question of whether or not for-profit corporations have the right to exercise religious beliefs to restrict the rights of others. Putting aside the absurdity of that debate, according to a BBC article I read both sides are using slippery slope fallacies to make their points, which is an extra layer of disappointing. Certain liberals are worried this would mean corps can object to whatever they want to and cite religious freedom, since its not really viable to question religious sincerity, in a turn of events that would basically shred the ACA. Certain conservatives are worried this could mean no one who is so much as affiliated with a company will ever be able to question anything thats against their beliefs that anyone else is doing. All the while, this whole thing feels like another proxy battle to me. Yet another round of which is more important, the bodily autonomy of the individual or the religious objections of the others?
