Me thinks the laptop government is not serious with the plight of kenyans,who currently 46% live below poverty line.this is the breakdown of the budget. 690m- events&logistics,286m -for conferences,300m-publicity&communication,365m-entertainment,320m-prominent personalities,20m-20billboards for former presidents including Uhuru,15m-50m for kibakis bronze stature,3.4m-music festival,3.3m -cultural week,338m- security&protocal,170m-conference&exhibitions,4.2m-cleaning up Uhuru Gardens,120m-hosting international investments,15m -national food festival. teachers&govt standoff was because there was no money,civil servants&doctors have also threatened going to streets for apayrise,this the gvt says it cant meet,this drives me to ask where are uhurutos priorities. What do kenyas have to celebrate at 50,we are still poor,youth unemployment, slums,poor education,starvation, weak institutions,insecurity, no reforms&corruption is still rife.kenyans should be more ashamed at 50 than celebrating,this should be atime to re-evaluate our plans,create jobs&work on rebuilding an all inclusive kenya than lavish spending. Sad enough,why should kenyans be reminded of Moi through billboards,someone who siphoned this nation with his cronies&some people are still nursing injuries they suffered under his rule.Kibakis bronze stature is an insult to idps still in camps this is uncalled for,kenyans dont want to be reminded of 2007 skirmishes. More so the kenya@50 celebrations will be for the rich polical class&mpigs just as the national prayer day was,leaving out ordinary kenyans who bare the load of heavy taxation. Jubilee needs to be prudent in expenditure and use taxes for development¬ waste.
