Noticed a few pictures of Kriss Donald and Stephen Lawrence flying about Cyberspace today saying that Kriss murder was mainly ignored by the media and Lawrences murder has received coverage for the last 20 years. Both murders were tragedies however I feel the need to point out some things.......Firstly Kriss killers were caught and brought to justice, the Scottish Judicial System and Police force did everything possible to bring Kriss killers to trial and for his family to get justice as quickly as possible......The case of Stephen Lawrence is exceptionally different. Not only did his family have to wait over 15 years for justice. They also had to deal with Police harassment, an institutionally racist police force, and corrupt police officers. This meant the Lawrence family had to wait a lot longer for justice. The undertones of the photos being circulated today on Facebook are encouraging racism as they want you to believe that the white victim has had the raw deal compared to the black victim. This is simply not the case and I hope the majority of you recognise it when you see the photo.
