Nowadays, I think being a L.E.O. is comparable to being a politician. Once upon a time these occupations were looked upon as careers for men and women of distinction. Now, to even consider becoming a part of any of these entities in any capacity, you are looked upon with disdain - especially if you are a person of color! I know every L.E.O. isnt bad - just like every politician isnt bad, but it seems the longer you are involved with each organization, the harder it is to remember on a daily basis who you are fighting for, why you joined, and keeping your individual identity. There has to be such an immense personal battle being waged within the depths of the hearts and minds of the good ones everyday, as to what and who to pledge their allegiance - the establishment or the community? For the community wants you to give your all to them, but as soon as one cop or politician does something deplorable - you ALL are looked down upon. If the others in the organization feel you have loyalty issues, they my desire to turn off their phones/radios off, when you are in need of back-up for the passing of some form of legislation or to preserve/protect your life/the lives of those you care about. How does the evil begin? Where does it start? A family member or yourself getting in a bind, and the bad guys being the first to respond to assist you in the situation, so now youre indebted to them? When do you no longer see people as someones child - but now, as a beast that needs to be put down? When do you stop caring about the voices of the old, weak, frail, and young - the very voices you feel compelled you to take up the position you now hold? When does your heart stop beating with compassion for the people, to only beating to the tune of caring for only you and yours, alone? Have others seen you go too far, that you will never be pure again? Do you want to come back to the side of right? On the other hand: are you being tried, tempted, and baited non-stop by those who have been in the position longer than you? Do you see yourself leaving before you cross that point of no return...or do you see yourself becoming the very thing you swore to protect the masses from?
