OBAMA CAN IGNORE THE GOP AND TAKE ADMINISTRATIVE IMMIGRATION - TopicsExpress

OBAMA CAN IGNORE THE GOP AND TAKE ADMINISTRATIVE IMMIGRATION ACTION WITHOUT ANY FEAR OF IMPEACHMENT The GOP cannot succeed in impeaching President Obama. So let me take the opportunity to explain. A majority of the members of the House must vote for these charges in order to impeach the president. That will be easy for the GOP. The Senate is a different matter. After the charges of misconduct are filed, the Senate has the power to try impeachment cases like a court. Two-thirds of the senators must vote for conviction. The GOP does not have that majority in the senate unless some democrats vote with the GOP. That is unlikely to say the least. Obama is daring the GOP to attempt the impeachment. If they spend their time in congress pursuing impeachment instead of attending to the economy, energy policy, immigration reform and other matters, the GOP has to account to the voters in 2016- if all they will have achieved is an attempted impeachment of President Obama. That is why Obama is not concerned with this impeachment talk. He will go ahead and act unilaterally on immigration. This time the GOP controls both chambers of congress. There is no Harry Reid to blame. may it be observed that the public outside the Tea Party Universe is not interested in impeachment. Impeachment without general public support is virtually impossible. If the GOP tries this, it is bye bye to GOP in 2016. Lastly, the GOP Majorities in both houses means little to the President. They can pass all the bills they want and Obama will just ignore or veto them at his pleasure-Or throw them to his dog BO to chew. The GOP does not have a two thirds majority in either chamber to override a presidential veto. A presidential veto can only be overridden by a two thirds majority in each chamber of congress.
