OCTOBER 2013 Fall is here and the weather is getting cooler. Please dress your children in weather appropriate clothing as we love to spend time outside daily. We are closed on Monday October 14th for Thanksgiving Day. PICTURE DAYS: We will be having a picture day at the preschool on Tuesday October 22nd and Wednesday October 23rd Each child will get their picture taken (if they want to ) and those graduating will also get a cap and gown picture. PLEASE don’t send your child wearing green clothes on these days as the back drop is green. HELPFUL IDEAS: A great way to help your children and encourage them to become independent at school is to hang up their belongings in this order: 1. Hang up their jacket 2. Hang up their backpack 3. Hang up their snack bag 4. Place footwear under the bench (now that we are using indoor shoes) This provides them with easy access to the items they will need, in the correct order according to our daily schedule. Please dress your children in “bathroom friendly clothing” i.e no belts, no overalls or tight pants. A friendly reminder that we would prefer shoes with no laces at preschool. All of these steps will foster independence in your child. Thank you. Things to Remember: Please bring inside shoes. NO LACES. PLEASE! PLEASE LABEL! The shoes can be stored on the shelf in the entrance way. There are green bins labelled for each class in the morning or afternoon. Please leave outdoor shoes under the bench. We would appreciate a phone call to notify us if your child will be away from school. Show N’ Tell is the last week of each new month. Please mark your calendars. We go outside everyday and the weather is changing so remember to dress your children appropriately. You are more than welcome to come early or stay after class and play but please clean up what you play with. Thank you in advance. Our class times are 8:30 to 11:00 am and 12:00 to 2:30 pm. Please be on time to pick up your children as we do charge for late pick up. Snack time is not long so please only send two small healthy snacks for your child Please be courteous of others when parking in our busy parking lot FUNDRAISING: Fall is our busiest time of the year for fundraising. It helps pay for all the great things you see at the school. Our firewood sale is Saturday October 5th. Anyone interested in purchasing wood, please come between 10am – 2pm. Please share this fundraising information with others who may be interested in purchasing wood. Liberty Foods is going to be a new sponsor in fundraising with, and for, the Beaver Valley Nursery School Society. When you go shopping at Liberty please notify the cashier, before you make your purchase to add your transaction onto the Beaver Valley Nursery School points program. This will help us to build points, which will be transferred into money. In turn, the nursery school will be able to provide items for the ‘special days’ that we host. Tell all your friends, family and everyone you know! We would like to thank the Dar Family for their generosity in helping our preschool to fundraise!! HALLOWEEN at Preschool: Halloween is such an exciting time at preschool! Please keep your costumes at home to avoid having them ruined and to avoid frightening other children. We have a Halloween House set up and many wonderful costumes for the children to use for dress up. We will be playing many great games and making some fun crafts. On Wednesday October 30th and Thursday October 31st we will be having Black, Orange and White days so the children can come dressed in these colors if they would like.
