ODE OF THE TREE What on earth can compare against a tree God’s special gift for mankind for free It’s one of God’s greatest creations No other wealth is of greater consideration. They came in all sizes and shapes A beauty and sight we all appreciate Whether they grew up short or tall We need them by whatever name they’re called. They have the longest existence on earth Living thousands of years since their birth They are strong and deeply rooted But men in their greed have them looted. A world without plants and trees Is as barren and desolate place as can be Living in a treeless world is very different A harsher life for man is apparent. The trees have numerous uses The timber have been use in houses Smaller trunks have been use as poles Its pulp is made into papers and rolls The trees have served mankind very well Providing light and heat as anyone can tell It protects us from destructive wind velocity By absorbing the typhoon’s fury Trees in forest have prevented soil erosion Protecting the soil enrichment and formation They also protect areas from destructive floods As watershed areas we are thankful and glad Cities have been lined with trees For beautiful, quiet and cooler streets They also filter pollutants from the atmosphere And add oxygen and moisture to the sphere Forest is favorite sites for recreation For peace, quiet and solitary reflections Where else can one find nature at work? To describe the power of God there is no word We should all learn to be thankful God’s creation of trees was very thoughtful A gentler creation there is none to compare Without the wonderful trees we will all suffer Planting a tree is planting for our future Protecting other crops that give us nurture Fruits and nuts are some of their products Employing people with work to earn some bucks Even after they are dead for a long time They still provide us with a precious mine Coals coming from their decaying remains For generations have mankind maintained Only fools chopped down the trees A senseless act of insatiable greed That those cowards hid behind The trees that should be praised to divine Little by little the trees are disappearing Soon in nature there will be nothing Where else can we find trees to appreciate? Except to live our lives in woes and regrets.
