ODM SHOULD NOMINATE ODINGA FOR HOMA - TopicsExpress

ODM SHOULD NOMINATE ODINGA FOR HOMA BAY *********************************************I********************* I am convinced the best candidate for Homa Bay, other than wakili Silas Jakakimba, is our party leader Raila Odinga. Baba, you saw ahead of us. Once again, you have proven us wrong. Here is why. Homa Bay is a difficult county. A very difficult county. Apart from Kajwang, only Odinga can best represent this county in the senate. And Raila Odinga is a very astute and senior lawmaker. Two, we all must agree that Raila Odinga being outside parliament has done the opposition movement more harm than good. The very presence of Odinga anywhere has this humbling effect; there are laws which have passed because some of our ODM Mps have sided with the Jubilee side which they wouldnt, if only Odinga was within the precepts of parliament. Three, as a community, and I mean the Luo, we are better off with Odinga in power, however little that power is, than outside it. He sees mischief from a far and with the added platform of the senate, he can quell such easily. Four, there are very young but rudderless leaders in the senate, both from CORD and Jubilee sides. They need a mentor and who else has mentored leaders in this country more than Odinga? Never forget that when KANU nominated Uhuru Kenyatta to parliament, on his first day, it was Odinga who ushered him in the house. Five, it is now apparent that those seeking Homa Bay seat cannot agree to let one of them ascend to power. These men are peers, especially the moneyed among them. The non-moneyed are as ambitious as Eugene Wamalwa and risk being irrelevant if not well guided. So really they cant come to agreement. The consensus candidate cant be found among them because he did not participate in the nominations. He is Raila Odinga! Sixth, it is time ODM decides whether it can go into the 2017 having squandered a whole five years of legislative agenda. As it now stands, very few pieces of legislation can be said to have come from our MPs and Senators. We need a parliamentary leader who can re-start the stalled change agenda. Seventh, the constitution being new, there are concepts which can only be experimented, like being able to vie in any part of the country. We cannot then say Odinga shouldnt vie in Homa Bay. If Odinga cannot, how will I vie in Kiambu? Hehehe! Eighth, there is something very blessed in retaining a politician like Odinga within a political set up. Had James Gichuru not stepped down severally for Jomo Kenyatta, we historians agree the political landscape in Kenya could be something very different today. Ninth, Homa Bay has now known the potential politicians it can field in 2017. At least they have introduced themselves to the electorates. However, for now till 2017, why not allow Odinga to sort out our fledgling parliamentary agenda? Tenth, as with all mortals, we never know what God is planning. May be it is God who wants Odinga in senate, and Gods plans are forever good for men.
