OK Facebook, help a mom out: My high school senior is considering joining a frat. Lot of reasons such as higher GPAs, social group/friendships, and most importantly cheaper than living in the dorms with better food, networking, etc. Basically the opposite of what I ever thought about frats plus add my stereotypical fears of hazing, date rapers and drunken parties. I have found University of Washington frats have higher GPAs than the male student body at large. Some are dry. Almost all claim not to haze. Still thats just reading their websites. So spit it out. I want to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly. Calm my fears, freak me out, scare me, and/or reassure me. Tell me all your experiences and your kids experiences with being in a frat.
