ON THE ROAD AGAIN - MEMORIES: A post this morning by friend, Christopher Hildebrand reminded me of a trip Jan and I and our son, Austin made to Mammoth Cave a few years ago. There were two things on the trip I always remember: 1. A place just outside the Cave park area called Golgotha Fun Park. Jan took a picture of Austin and I in front of the three crosses on the hill. It included miniature golf and go-carts, which we didnt bother doing. I was particularly disappointed that the miniature golf course didnt pick up on the name of the park. I featured an 18th mini-golf hole where a hole-in-one would set off helping to raise Jesus from the dead. I know helping raise Jesus from the dead is poor theology, but lets face it, an amusement part named Golgotha Fun Park isnt based on well thought out theology from the outset. 2. There was a wonderful used bookstore we found in downtown little Cave City, KY that was operated by a curmudgeonly guy with a big white beard (very Santa Claus looking) and he also cooked a limited menu evening meal for folks. We had a very good beef stroganoff. I got to talking with the guy and asked him how he came to be running this place. His reply was something like: Well, I have three passions in life; books, food, and the third one walks through those doors every now and then. Good enough.
