ON WHATSAPP ? --------------------- 25-year-old man arrested for ‘molesting’ college girl on WhatsApp DEHRADUN: The Uttarakhand police on Monday night arrested a 25-year-old man for molesting a college girl from Haldwani by sending her obscene photographs and messages on the popular instant messaging service, WhatsApp. The 18-year-old girl was being badgered by the boy for almost a month. He was eventually nabbed after the girl approached the police for help. The accused, Waseem Ahmed, has been charged with molestation under IPC section 354 and alleged violation of the IT Act. Ahmed works as a carpenter and has got formal education only till class V. He somehow got the girls WhatsApp number and started harassing her by sending objectionable photographs and messages, Nainital SSP Vinni Sachdeva Raman told TOI. In a somewhat similar case, the Dehradun district cops booked a 30-year-old jilted lover who had allegedly uploaded some morphed and obscene pictures of a management student in Dehradun by hacking her Facebook account. Acting on a complaint filed by the girls father, sleuths from the cyber-crime cell of the Dehradun police started tracing the IP address of the man.
