ONE OF MANY FORT GEORGES (unsurprisingly) The British Army 1775-1783 by Richard A. Rinaldi (link below) orbat/site/uk_orbats/files/6/The%20British%20Army%201775.pdf As far as I have researched its widely understood that 18 x Regiments of Foot ordinarily garrisoned the 20 Colonys of British America (not including the West Indies) in peacetime. Id like to pinpoint the locations of these Regiments, that is, the centre of mass of the Unit. (HQ & majority of Companies) outpost duties in minor Forts not withstanding. PENSACOLA, FLORIDA 1 Regiment @ Fort George. What I can conclude from my amateur studies is that the Regiments based at Pensacola and Mobile provided 2/5 of their combined strength in company sized detachments posted at frontier forts and urban population centres throughout the southern colonies. ideally, Id like to explore further these minor garrisons in future posts.
