Ode to Shamus (May 2014) Born to Kathy and Bill in July of 92 on a summers day Shamus Patrick OToole later known as just Shay The heart and soul of the Donnelly and OToole Clan He was always willing to lend a helping hand His love for us was stronger than well ever understand Just some of the virtues of being such a fine Irish man Great things came from your smile and laughter So now they say big thigs come in small packages A meeting in the sunlight is lucky and a burying in the rain Billy, your friends and family, will always carry your name For every time a story is told, the name Shamus comes up Trying to find words, theres never going to be enough B&B on Fridays, the Bridgeway with Jim Mashed with green bean and of course prime rib From North Brookfield N Clinton to Marshfield Livin Timberland Boots, A Carhart jacket, N a Ford Ranger that kept on Kickin Without MaryEllen, theres just no tellin You always dreaded that call, but she was there through it all From Verc to 22 Warren to Massasoit Shamus never wanted to leave college because thats how much he enjoyed it For your love of fishing I called you The Salt Water Bass A captains platter at Haddads and of course a tall glass Your common courtesys and respect for others, you had so much class So to me Shamus, you will still always be Seabass. Dan has fond memories of the days at the Scituate jetty You, Ali, and Derek in the sauna after a work out all sweaty On Saturday you loved breakfast pizza with Peter Brown You never had the luck of working an eight to one in town You were always needed elsewhere to sell those rentals Funny how much you sold for a kid who never did math in pencil On Sunday you always made time for Nana and Da and the family On Wednesdays at the BBC with Aldous Collins gettin super funky Its been a blessing to be part of your life for these past few years For these were only your latter college days and years But now its time for me to turn the stories over to your North Brookfield crew For this is your home where you, Shamus Patrick OToole, always grew.
