Oh boy. My latest profile picture, a small part of me had this horrible feeling that was going to be my Alexander Supertramp moment (if you havent read or seen Into The Wild- cant recommend it enough). After leaving Swanage I ran outa food pretty quickly. I massively underestimated a few things. Firstly how damn hilly this stretch was. So many people have been like oh wait til you hit the South West- its hilly, and Ive been thinking all like naah, I spent my youth bombing around the North Downs- I can hack a hill or two. No. Dorset is nuts. These hills are in a different league. And then I underestimated how few shops thered be here. So stupid. I used up my emergency tin of tuna, and I had no idea when Id get to a shop. Ive met some cracking people over the last few days, including Kath and Dave, who amazingly gave me their chicken, mayo sandwich and two apples- thank you! Woke at 4am this morning and driven by hunger walked in the pitch black and thick fog the 6 and a bit miles, two villages along to finally make it to the nearest overpriced village shop- the type that Im sure locals only use for getting their newspapers and the odd pint of milk. Lesson learnt, the hard way.
