Oh my lovely lovely working mamas. I started my first business - TopicsExpress

Oh my lovely lovely working mamas. I started my first business almost 6 years ago. I started my second 12 months ago. Im now making nearly double what I made at my last corporate job...with unlimited sick & vacation days, my own set hours and the FREEDOM to get to take my kids to school every morning, pick them up every afternoon, hang out with them on school holidays, get to yoga every morning (ok...most), and actually hang with my family for more than just an hour or two a day. I can work from home, from the coffee shop down the block or from the beach. Heck - I can work from Paris if I want to! But with so many opportunities for any mom to take control of their professional and personal futures--to start their own businesses in their own time (alongside their current careers and kids) that could grow into something that non only replaces, but significantly exceeds their current I hope I get a bonus this year salary--why do we still think that we need to put in 40+ hours per week in a monkey suit, battling traffic and hoping that we can make it to the school after care on time. Just so that we can run home, eat food from the crock pot and go to bed...all while we are making someone else rich and making ourselves CRAZY!!!! Being a Momtrepreneur isnt always easy. It definitely still takes work. There is no legit get rich quick scheme out there. But building a business, with a company that has a stellar brand name and reputation (4th largest in its industry in the WORLD), that gives me the power to make my own career and family choices...that little bit of extra effort is SO worth it!! We deserve to have choices. We deserve to be great moms and still financial contributors. We deserve to be able to show our kids that moms can be 100% present and still bring home the dang bacon if we want to...or tofu bacon. Point is - no boss is going to walk over to your desk and say you know what? Why dont you take the day off and take your kids to LegoLand today...you all deserve it!! or Hey...how about you put in a couple hours of work this Friday night and see if you cant double your paycheck by reaching out to a few friends? Success doesnt have to look like a Wall Street executive. Success can look like a walk to school, laptop and PJs for a few hours of work, and then an afternoon with your kiddos!
