Ok I need to say something and this is NOT to start up anything negative but rather for PURE EDUCATION. Lake Erie is on a quota system for walleyes and has been for yrs and yrs. So what that means basically is that a certain number of fish are expected to be kept for the table every yr and yes that means high #s of 10+ females. IT IS OK TO KEEP A BIG FEMALE FOR THE TABLE BECAUSE IF YOU DONT THEN THE COMMERCIAL FISHERMAN WILL. Its not such a bad thing guys this fishery is a different animal than say Lake Of The Woods or Lake Winnipeg. Keeping large females would no doubt hurt those systems over time but EVERY fishery is different and Lake Erie is a freak as far as numbers of giant walleyes. I AM A HUGE BELIEVER AND PRACTICE ALMOST 100% CATCH AND RELEASE however I have been educated on this system and I now have no problem keeping a 10lb+ fish through the ice or on the river. So take it easy on the guys and gals that choose to keep a big female or two for the table I promise its not that bad on this system :) #walleye #catchandrelease #lakeerie
