Ok! The Microsoft event was today. Whether or not you thought you cared, this was a big deal with big implications on the future of technology. Seriously. Ill explain: First, Microsofts new browser is meh, but having cortana (basically a beefed-up siri that knows things about you personally) is where it shines. Cortana is built in to Windows as well. Im not going to go over features but I think youll understand the power. Elijah Cain, if ONeil still shows that old apple promo from the 80s...its basically that. Pretty crazy. Oh also Adam Knight might remember that. Heres the video: youtu.be/hb4AzF6wEoc its not conversational like that yet, but it does know a lot about you (oh, you can also see everything it knows about you... since I know some people with inflated self importance think that Microsoft really cares about their personal details). For gamers: Xbox games on Windows. Whattt? Well its just streaming the games to your phone, Tablet, or computer kind of like PlayStations thing but with pc added. You can chat with Xbox people via the Xbox voice application now on Windows. Dx12 is coming out which brings 50% performance boosts. Fable legends will be cross platform with the ability to play with Xbox and pc friends. This will apparently be a new trend. Also, windows now has a built in game dvr with the hotkey Win+G. So youcan record something while gaming (steam games, any game, doesnt matter). So good things all around. The huge thing here is Microsofts augmented reality headset. Eli / Adam might remember this from an old Microsoft promo ONeil showed. This isnt a windows 10 gimmick, theyve been working on this since then. Heres the video: youtu.be/ZFvgxzDK5VQ . For those who dont know, augmented reality merges reality and virtual technology with holograms, voice, and gestures. Really Sci fi stuff. Until now. They have already showed off working 3d modeling (in 3d) and they have a working version of Skype for it. Yeah. You can have hologram Skype calls RIGHT NOW. It will also be used for gaming. This will be baked in to Windows 10. Anyone can build these hologram apps, and they will work (in conjunction with the headset) on phones and tablets as well. Oh... And Windows 10 will be free. So thats a thing.
