Ok baby Jack is asleep (spending the night with us) so I wanted to take a moment to share with you the wonderful response we have had for the Hudson Powell Memorial Scholarship. It has been amazing and humbling to see the acts of love and respect for this man. I knew he was loved by many and has touched so many lives. The generosity of all of you that have written your checks just confirms that this was a great decision to go forward with this scholarship. I know that each of you gave from the heart without any reservations and I am so thankful that I have gotten the chance to be a part of this memorial to Hudson. I have been honored to have shared a part of his life and I am very honored to have been given this opportunity to be a part of this tribute. It was a pleasure to talk to many of you and share your admiration and love for Hudson. Even though sometimes tears were shed, thank you for stopping by my office door. As I have said before, God seems to always send me an Angel just when I need them whether it is a person, a card or just a phone call. Please know that each one of you are special to me and your support is awesome. Sometimes I still have thoughts about how unfair it was for Hudson to be taken from us because I think he could have done even more great work here on earth, but then I realize he gave us so much while he was here and we are blessed to have been in his presence. Hudson would really cut up us for honoring him in this way, such a humble man. I know that he would be amazed at your contributions, but I know he would be proud and very pleased for the opportunity to help these young students and help fulfill their dreams. I know that all of you gave not because you felt you should, or that you were asked, but because you wanted to be a part of this memorial that will allow Hudson’s name, memory and honor to live on. I will leave you with a comment made by a gentleman today as he paid his bill and then began to write another check to the Memorial, he said, “This does not begin to cover the value of Hudson’s life or what he meant to everyone”. I so agree with his comment. Dear God, thank for showing us the way, for sending the right people to help this endeavor and for reminding us that kindness and love for our fellow man always leaves a mark in others’ lives. Thank you for getting us through rough days and giving us the insight and strength to go forward. Continue to hold Hudson’s family near and for allowing us to live the lives Hudson would want us all to do. We may have not had him as long as we wanted but oh what a difference he made while he walked with us. Thank you for your support, I will update often as the Scholarship progresses
