Ok so I know everyone has the right to their own opinion and I know there are just as many people out there just waiting to troll mine. So here it is.. With the sad passing of anyone with a mental illness, in my opinion people should not pass it off as an act of selfishness. Many are saying what about people with cancer, they dont have a choice. That infuriates me. Do you honestly think that we chose to have a mental illness?? What part of illness do you not understand?? Yes cancer can cause death, so can mental illness, as can a lot of things that are not preventable. Having a chemical imbalance in our brain is just the way we were born. Yes life and pressure can make it a lot harder to manage but if you do anything to any sickness or illness, even the flu, it is harder to manage. Mental illness is not a choice. It can be carefully monitored and medicated but just like any health problem it doesnt always work. Speaking as someone who has been at the mental point of suicide, Its a well structured plan from the stronger voice in your head. In your heart you know its not right but that other part of you takes over. It is not a sudden decision. You organise all your affairs and the voice in your head tells you that the people in your life are better without you. You dont even need to want to die. Sometimes it makes you think that everyone else will be better off. Then other times, like my Aunty, may she rest in peace, the voices and pain just become too much. Death is the only silence. Please be more understanding.
