Ok, so I splurged three days grocery money on Holga lense and filter wheels from photojojo, and today they came. The Holga was a cheap analog Chinese camera for the masses that was later adopted by artists who basically hacked a wide variety of interesting shots out of it. Today, a Holga lense is made for digital cameras, to try to capture some of the same effects of the original Holga camera. You mount these on your camera body like any lense and it includes a wheel of colored filters that you turn to select the one you want and a wheel of Holga lenses. My cheap-o wheels came in todays mail and I tore them wildly out of the box this evening and tried them out on my much-put-upon middle child, who ignored me while gamely engaged in the newest cool activity (according to some guy on NPR today) of watching videos of other people playing video games, online. They seem like they might be fun and Ill trot out to try them out tomorrow. Real photographers would probably thrown these out but they may be fun for me. Im not sure yet what these will be fun for and I cant help but imagining poor Chinese peoples family photos - heres a few examples of the same shot on different lenses on the wheels -
