Ok, so Im here at Starbucks working on stuff, and Im trying to figure out a bit of historical oddity on the history of one of their new coffees. With the way this is worded, Im trying to figure out the historical legitimacy of this, it if the advertiser made a huge error. Im writing this as it worded directly on the add: Maui Mokka Grown exclusively on Maui (Hawaii), this ancient Mokka varietal-believed to date back nearly 1,000 years-descends from a seedling brought from Yemen. Each coffee cherry is left to dry on the tree, following centuries-old Yemeni tradition, after which its harvested on the fertile slopes of Puu Kukui. When in history did Arab explorers make it to Polynesia, let alone 1,000 years ago, to transfer an a coffee seedling and agricultural tradition to the other side of the world? Yes that tradition could have been carried to modern Hawaii, but Im a little lost as to how ancient Yemen made contact with Hawaiian civilization before Europe did? Unless Im interpreting thus statement wrong, the writer need to get their facts straight!
