Okay...this conversation has been spinning around for quite a few days and finally someone posted this TedTalk video. Take this as my opinion, but I want to point something out about this vid that I sincerely woud love someone to explain to me. Here is my response: Ive seen this TedTalk before and heres a question that NO ONE has been able to answer for me (maybe its a stupid question and thats the reason, but you be the judge). AT 6:33 hamish Jolly explains the very PURPOSE of the cryptic coloration version of his SAMS wetsuits. The one which attempts to hide the wearer in the water column. (HIS WORDS - NOT MINE). At 9:28 in this video, the shark clearly encounters the SAMS rig with the camouflage coloration (Cryptic SAMS rig) meant to HIDE divers from the vision of a shark...please watch this portion of the video. DOES ANYONE think this shark couldnt see this bait? Remember, this isnt the deterrent version (black and white striped), this is the CAMO version. So is anyone telling me this shark didnt see the bait? Really? It seems to me, to know precisely where the bait is and is almost chased off by what it encounters. THIS IS NOT THE FUNCTION OF THIS SUIT! Sorry, but due to how it is described to the audience, I absolutely without a doubt have to cry BS. Had this been the sea snake scare away version, they might have allayed my skepticism, but I am convinced this is an outright deception meant to trick people into purchasing a snake oil suit ( If you dont get the reference, look up snake oil in wikipedia or better yet, check out duck and cover in case of a nuclear attack).
