Okon Ekpe Udoh On A Homeward Flight The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time- Mr. Twain. The tunes today at Nwot Usiong Itam in Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Iom State, come with high decibel, bidding farewell to Pastor Okon Ekpe Udoh as he departs, after 77 years of earthly occupation. The crowd at the Government Primary School, Ibiaku Itam 2, Itu, along the Itam-Itu/Calabar Expressway, venue for the obsequies speaks of the impact of the life and times of Pastor Okon Ekpe Udoh, a faithful who served in the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star. From the Members of the Brotherhood Church, Community leaders, journalists, friends and well-wishers, the solemn rites of passage for the Cleric, who had served in the Nigerian Armed Forces, and traversed the length and breadth of the Nation as well as lived in the Republic of Cameroon, was quite evocative. The late Okon Ekpe Udoh, father of Evangelist Saviour Ekpe, a journalists and publisher of Newsfront Newspaper, was a committed community leader and by the reason of his commitment and discipline was appointed treasurer of Ikot Emien Village Council for some years. The member, representing Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Kenneth Archibong in his condolence to Evang. Ekpe described the departed as one who remained steadfast and sincere as both a religious and community leader, to whom many are greatly indebted. Condolences messages came from the Government of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria Union of Journalists and several other organizations and individuals. For Evangelist Saviour Ekpe, his father was an extraordinary personality. He was a very good father, husband and a friend. We will treasure his legacies forever. He gave us the basic teaching which has driven our lives to making successes in life,he added.
