Heres a printer-friendly edition of the names, addresses, parcel numbers for the 430 MIR owners without all the financial garbage many of you dont care to mess with. Please encourage all your friends and neighbors to email Mel if they want me to add an email address or phone number field. I would agree that any money used for non road issues needs to come from Community Development funds, GoFundMe money or donations (like that from Ms. Hoffman). Having said all that, if you all decide to rescind the transfer of community funds and spend some on trail building then before we start we must clearly define who owns the land we propose to spend money on. I disagree with Cameron about DNR land and suspect title to Daves lots is defined as to the natural high-water mark of the Skykomish ... whatever that means. Three cheers for volunteer trail builders but spending MIRCC funds opens a whole can of questions. Thats just my two-bits worth from the guy who doesnt get to vote. Gary, I agree that the intent of the emergency transfer was simply to enable the checking account. Sure, we can spend discretionary community money on road emergency if we want to but we have to be careful going the other way. Judge ordered us to account for non-road things separately so thats why we had to set up the special bank account. Just need to be sure we put some money back in that special bank account if we need to pay for something non-road. Mark Bollman My opinion is that we are mostly going through dave faigins property with the trail. We need to make sure that he is 100% okay with it. As one of the resident moms on the board, I want to make sure that we are thinking about safety. That waterfall is ragin right now and that is not a very safe location for ATVs. I would say it could be charged to slide work. I also want volunteers to step up and help out for free. Sign me up to help. -Julia Ten straight days of 2 trackhoes and 3 minimum dumptrucks would clear that lot down level with the roadway. Ive seen it before in Alaska and Canada. Jim Blair h yeah, Finance committee is using Facebook to run our operation. It’s just quicker. This is our page: https://facebook/groups/742071052484127/ We need some numbers on land slide work. The bridge work is easier to estimate. Can someone put some dollar figures on slide work based on the geo report? That would be super helpful. —Z Hi Earl, If that is a motion, Zan votes to go for it. We have some cash, money is coming in, and the finance committee is working on a 500K loan. MIR folks need to see the board working for them. I was up there talking to Hoppy and Tom about this. Let’s just do it. I was just talking with Elizabeth about the bridge project. We need quotes for our loan package ASAP. The wood bridge company will be here on Thursday for design work. But, my gut feeling is that the steel bridge will be a quicker solution. Christopher Russek is co-chair of the finance committee, and has hit the ground running. He talked to that John guy from the county for at least an hour today. The county is now working with us on fast-tracking permits and easements. We were doing a poor job of communicating with them. They really didn’t know what was going on. Those days are over. Cheers, —Zan Board there may be a way to build an ATV trail up past the switch back to allow people to use ATVs plus emergency rescue from the fire department and PUD access by ATV to the east side of the slide. The issue is we may be going on the river side of Dave Faigins property and there may be DNR Land Daves Land and some other property owner land to build the ATV trail on. We would need temporary easements. If this were the case would we use MIR Road funds to do this? Would we hire our road contracted to use a small excavator to build the trail? Should this be a community effort only with funds donated by the community to do this? What legal issues will this create? Im thinking on this myself and wanted to give you a heads up because I think it will come up before noon tomorrow so start thinking now. My gut says maybe we should consider doing this but at this time Im undecided. Im thinking that the community is going to expect us to do this with MIR funds, and it is going to be very unsettling with the community if we dont. Right now and Im just guessing this could cost $2 to $3 thousand. Im estimating about $2,000 today to get the road open for walking and PUD trucks to conner 1, and we have some more water management to do tomorrow plus a load of asphalt chips for pot holes west of the slide, which could be another $2,000. Earl Van Buskirk That just might be a fine idea but were getting the cart before the horse and theres no fire here. We usually try to reserve e-motions for truly urgent matters and making the bank transfer or not is the least of our troubles. Enough to say we wont get around to it until we need the money to pay bills or decide to build a trail. Meanwhile, when someone works out the details of a trail-spending proposal, whose land, permission, cost, etc. please let me know and if it cant wait until our next meeting lets consider making a specific e-motion then. Fair enough?
