On Presidents Day in February 1962, Healdsburg High School held a patriotic ceremony commemorating the birthdays of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. The ceremony began with a brief word about the event by Principal Robert Malone. The flag was raised with Jeffrey Butts accompanying the ceremony on the bugle. Willard Bennett, student body president, led the salute to the flag and Sharon Vanderhoof, student body secretary, read Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. The Ceremony was concluded with the high school band playing two selections under the direction of music instructor John Terry.
