On September 11, 2001, a different war was won than the War on Terror (not TerrorISTS, just on TERROR). By having no specific perpetrators left unfound and, hence, unpunished, our government created the perfect way to demean, diminish, defeat and denigrate We The People. By creating a source of FEAR, making it invasive and visible every time we enter an airport or cross a border, we have been demoralized. That makes us vulnerable and open to ANYTHING, any measure touted as a means to keep us safe. We learned, as our freedoms were removed bit by bit, to keep our mouths shut, to NOT speak the truths we see before our very eyes and in our own lives. Those with power gain greater power, and those with little or no power find what little they have continues to be eroded until even maintaining the dignity of our humanity becomes an impossible daily struggle. THIS is why America is no longer the greatest nation in the world: Because those WITH power strive only to increase what they have, at the expense of those already without a voice because theyve gone hoarse from pleading for what would best serve them to serve themselves. I am one of those people: talented, educated, intelligent who now hides in her apartment for lack of medical and social supports that would enable her to pull herself back from disability and into a place where her talents are used for others and for her continuing growth into a powerful voice for We The People. No one can fight this battle alone. When do we find a common voice that is strong enough to turn this country BACK into a Nation that puts We The People first?
