On September 18, a manager at ASARCO’s Ray Mine Complex - TopicsExpress

On September 18, a manager at ASARCO’s Ray Mine Complex physically assaulted female a USW activists at work. The manager grabbed the employee by the arm as three other supervisors looked on and refused to intervene. The manager later threw three books at the employee. To date no apology has been issued to the employee and ASARCO management has not communicated with the union about its plans to address the situation. There is no place for violence against women at work or anywhere else. ASARCO management needs to take immediate action to ensure that all employees are able to enjoy a workplace that is free from violence. We are calling on ASARCO management to: Conduct a comprehensive investigation of the incident on September 18th and take appropriate action. Train supervisors to intervene when they witness violence against women. Ensure that all employees are allowed union representation in meetings with management that could result in discipline. Assure all employees that ASARCO is committed to providing a workplace that is free from violence. usw.org/stopviolence
