On Tuesday November 25th Miss Diane, our Physical Education Specialist, visited the Senior Preschool classroom at Stouffville Village Child Care. The children participated in a variety of activities using stepping stones, hula hoops and the parachute. The children practiced coordination and balancing skills. While engaging in these activities the children are working at improving their cardiovascular skills also. The children enjoyed ducking under the parachute and scrambling out as fast as they could before it fell to the ground, this exercise worked at focusing on the children’s agility skills. It was the favourite one of the day. The physical education component of the program is an essential part of early childhood growth and development. It helps children improve self confidence, learn new skills and improve listening skills.
